چکیده

By constructing Mckibben Muscles out of conductive fibers, we are able to measure the contraction and force output of the muscle without external encoders. These selfsensing actuators can then be controlled in flexible structures, without the rigid, well-defined joints demanded by typical position encoders. The contraction is manifest in changes in the inductance of the braid. The force output is detected through changes in the braid resistance due to strain in the conductive individual fibers.

Strain and Damage Sensing Property of Self-compacting Concrete Reinforced with Carbon Fibers

Present paper investigated the strain and damage sensing property on concrete cubes embedded with carbon fibers. Concrete cubes of dimension 150 mm have been casted with different concentration of carbon fibers to study the strain and damage sensing property under cyclic loading that can be further used for health monitoring as non-destructive testing (NDT) approach. All the specimens were test...

Fabrication of 1, 1-Dimethylhydrazine Gas sensor Based on Nano Structure Conducting Polyaniline

Determination of 1, 1-dimethylhydrazine (DMH) in air is carried out by spectrophotometry, GC or HPLC analysis, but in this study DMH was analyzed by a gas sensor based on nanostructure conducting polyaniline. Determination of DMH has been done very simplely and quickly in recent work. Electrically conductive fibers have been prepared by polymerization of aniline on surfaces of commercial polyme...

Surface modification of continuous fibers with carbon nanostructures to get self-sensing capabilities

The use of carbon nanostructures to create electrically conductive networks in continuous fiber reinforced composites has been explored through the modification of the fibers. This alternative tries to avoid problems presented in most studied approach which consists of nanostructures addition in the matrix. Two alternative methods to CVD have been studied: electrophoretical deposition and nanor...

Self-Sensing Pneumatic Artificial Muscles for Feedback Control using the Inductance of “Smart Braids”

Measuring and controlling Pneumatic Artificial Muscles (PAMs) without instrumented, mechanical structures can be challenging. This is the case, for example, when the actuators are used in soft, human exosuits [5]. “Smart Braids” measure the length of PAMs through the inductance of a conductive braid. The inductance increases linearly with the contraction of the actuator. We have modeled and tes...

Proprioceptive Flexible Fluidic Actuators Using Conductive Working Fluids.

Soft robotic systems generally require both soft actuators and soft sensors to perform complex functions. Separate actuators and sensors are often combined into one composite device when proprioception (self-sensing) is required. In this article, we introduce the concept of using a conductive liquid to perform both the sensing and actuation functions of a proprioceptive soft actuator. The worki...
